2. Identify NW-A100TPS, NW-A105 and NW-A105HN
The NW-A100TPS, NW-A105 and NW-A105HN are all engraved
with model name “NW-A105” on the rear side of the main unit.
However, NW-A100TPS, NW-A105 and NW-A105HN have differ-
ent factory default settings for the WALKMAN main unit.
To identify NW-A100TPS, NW-A105 or NW-A105HN, remove the
rear case and check the presence/absence and color of the sheet af-
fi
xed inside the main unit.
(When removing the rear case, refer to “2. DISASSEMBLY” on
page 28)
Note 1:
There is a 40th anniversary engrave on the rear side of the main unit
of the NW-A100TPS, but if the rear case has been replaced in the
past for some reason, there is no 40th anniversary engrave and the
appearance is the same as NW-A105 or NW-A105HN. Therefore,
NW-A100TPS, NW-A105 and NW-A105HN cannot be identi
fi
ed
by appearance. (Refer to “NOTE OF REPLACING THE REAR
CASE OF NW-A100TPS” on page 6)
Note 2:
NW-A106HN does not have “headphones not bundled model”, so
there is no need to check for bundled headphones.

IMPORTANT NOTE OF REPLACING THE MAIN BOARD
When the MAIN board is replaced with a new board, there is always
a necessary work.
Perform the work according to the following contents.
Note:
Only replacing the MAIN board will not run properly.
1. Work Contents
The following work is always required after replacing the MAIN
board.
Step 1:
Perform each test mode
After the MAIN board is replaced, check the various functions after
assembling the WALKMAN main unit.
(Refer to “3. Perform Each Test Mode” on page 10)
Step 2:
Each initial setting
Perform various initial settings such as destination, main unit body
color and bundled headphones presence/absence.
(Refer to “4. Each Initial Setting” on page 10)
Step 3:
Pre-installed content setting
Write pre-installed content to the WALKMAN main unit.
(Refer to “5. Pre-Installed Content Setting” on page 14)
Step 4:
Factory setting

rmware writing
Write the
fi
rmware to set the WALKMAN main unit to the product
state.
Note:
Step 4 should be performed after completing all settings. Step 1 to
Step 3 cannot be performed after performing Step 4.

2. Preparation
2-1. Set the WALKMAN main unit to a charged state
After replacing the MAIN board and assembling the WALKMAN
main unit, connect the USB Type-C cable to the WALKMAN main
unit and connect it to a PC or USB AC adapter to charge it.
When the WALKMAN main unit is charged state, it automatically
start up in test mode.
Note 1:
If the operate by state of after replacing the MAIN board, the bat-
tery will be consumed quickly.
Note 2:
Even if the charging by state of after replacing the MAIN board, it
can hardly be charged. To fully charge the WALKMAN main unit,
charge it in the normal mode state after completing all the work
(“IMPORTANT NOTE OF REPLACING THE MAIN BOARD”
above) of replacing the MAIN board.
