Configuration
The MRL-7 data logger can be configured with the Commander software or a terminal editor. The
Commander offers a structured user interface with additional options for data display, station man-
agement and data collection. For detailed information please refer to the manual of the Commander
software).
8.1.1
How to view the data logger settings
Commander
After a connection to the MRL-7 has been established (see Section
), enter the
Parameter (F2)
tab
and click
Download parameters
from device. All settings of the data logger are now downloaded and
stored on your PC. If your data logger is connected for the first time, this download may take a few
minutes. Successive downloads will be faster as only updated information has to be downloaded.
To change the data logger settings the Commander must be set to expert mode. This is done by open-
ing the
Options
menu, selecting
Common
and changing the
Authorization
to
Expert
. In
Normal
mode
the settings are read only.
Terminal editor
After successful connection the setup menu can be accessed by entering three question marks (
???
)
in quick succession.
1
Hint
As an unwanted switching into the menu mode has to be avoided the timing of
the three question marks
???
is very restrictive and must never be finished
with
Return/Enter
. This is especially important for command line tools, which
may automatically send a closing carriage return.
The menu items can be selected by entering the letter assigned to each item. Upon selection, a sub-
menu is opened, or the selected parameter is displayed with its unit. Changes to values are confirmed
with
Return/Enter
or discarded with
Esc
. Menus are closed with
X
. After closing the main menu, the
data logger performs an initialization.
Hint
If the MRL-7 is repowered, a boot message containing the sensors firmware
version, serial number and address within the RS-232 bus is displayed.
