6. REPLACING THE BATTERY
Your
DF-Somfy
detector will emit a short beeping noise every minute when the battery runs down. You should
change the battery immediately by performing the following steps:
– Remove the detector from its base (Rotate it anticlockwise).
– Take out the used battery. Do not throw out the used battery – take it to your distributor.
–
WARNING, the good performance of the detector is provided by the use of one
of the following battery alkaline 9V
Duracell MN1604 or ENERGYZER 522 batteries
– Batteries guaranteeing a functioning of 3 years
– Make sure that the battery is properly connected and place it in its compartment.
– Fix the detector onto its attachment base by rotating it clockwise until it fits into
place.
– Check that the
DF-Somfy
unit is functioning properly (see section 7).
We recommend you change the battery ALKALINE once every 3 years.
Never use a rechargeable battery.
Caution : risk of explosion if the battery is replaced by an incorrect type.
Keep the product and the batteries (new and used) out of reach of children. If the battery compartment does not
close securely, stop using the product and keep it out of reach of children. There is a risk of explosion or leakage
of flammable liquid or gas from the battery if it is kept at high temperature (hot oven or fire), crushed, cut, or
subjected to extremely low air pressure. Non-rechargeable batteries must not be charged.
This detector contains a number of materials that can be recovered or recycled, including batteries. Please
separate storage cells and batteries from other types of waste and recycle them via the local collection
facility.
Ensure you separate batteries from other types of waste and recycle them via the local collection system.
We care about our environment. Do not throw away your device with general household waste. Take it to
an approved collection point for recycling.
7. FUNCTIONAL TEST OF THE DF-SOMFY
When functioning normally,
DF-Somfy
emits a red flashing light once a minute. You must check that your
detector is fully functional once a month, or each time you change the battery, by pressing about ten seconds
the
TEST
button on the cover (details in section 5):
– The
DF-Somfy
indicator light will flash.
– Then, the alarm will emit a high-pitched sound.
– Releasing the button will cause the alarm to stop immediately.
Make people living in the house familiar with the sound of
DF-Somfy
detector, and get them used to evacuating
the house when they give the alarm.
Keep a reasonable distance (1 arm’s length) from the detector in order to protect your hearing from
its very powerful sound.
High power alarm : 85
dBA at 3
m (94
dBA at 1
m)
Do not try to trigger the alarm by any other method (using lighter for ex.) ; you could damage the
detector, or worse, start a fire.
8. MAINTENANCE
Your detector was designed to minimise maintenance as far as possible. Nevertheless, some simple operations
should be carried out
once a year
. You may perform them when replacing the battery (see section 6). Once you
have removed the detector :
– Clean the vents on the side of the detector unit with a vacuum cleaner, a soft brush or one of its accessories
directly.
– Use a slightly damp cloth to clean the cover’s external surfaces.
It is recommended that you replace the detector after a 10-year period.
