Firmware Update
7.1
Preparation
The IDU to be upgrade must have already a version of web-based user interface. If your unit is
equipped with serial console access only, please contact Solectek support at
.
Set up the Solarwinds TFTP server at your PC. The program is available in the “downloads”
section of their website, www.solarwinds.com.
Extract upgrade files from the compressed ZIP archive.
Create a new folder, C:\TFTP-Root and place all of the extracted update files in that folder.
If possible, a direct Ethernet connection is strongly recommended so as to eliminate any transfer
problems.
WARNING
:
Do not attempt “over-the-air” upgrade sessions. The upgrades should always be done from a
local PC.
It is important to have only the current upgrade files in the target directory at the PC. If you have
done upgrades before, please make sure to remove all upgrade files that were used in previous
upgrade sessions. Mixing of different version firmwares could result in a corrupt file download.
It’s also acceptable to extract the upgrade files to a new folder and configure the TFTP server to
use that folder as the home directory for file transfer.
7.2
IP Address Setup
Verify that the TFTP server and IDU are on the same IP subnet. Correct if necessary.
Verify access to the GUI of the IDU to be upgraded.
7.3
TFTP Session
Start a Solarwinds TFTP session, as shown in Figure 7-1.
Make sure that the “Transmit and Receive files” button is checked under the Security tab (see the
figure below).
