Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter
IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE:
Detection, indication and cease power export per NEC 690.35 (C).
All SolarEdge inverters incorporate a certified internal Ground Fault Circuit
Interrupter (GFCI) in order to protect against possible electrocution and fire hazard
in case of a malfunction in the PV array, cables or inverter.

An external
GFCI is required
in some countries. In these cases, the installer
must check which type of GFCI is required by the relevant electric code.
SolarEdge recommends using a type-A GFCI. The recommended GFCI
value is 100mA or 300mA unless a lower value is required by the specific
local electric codes
.
In installations where the local electric code requires the use of a lower leakage
GFCI, the discharge current may trip the GFCI. The following steps can be taken
in order to avoid this problem:

It is important to select an appropriate GFCI in order to ensure proper
operation of the installation. Although the GFCI used in such cases is a
30mA GFCI, it may still trip at 15mA (according to IEC 61008). Good
quality GFCIs will trip at a higher value.

Configure the trip current of the inverters’ internal GFCI to a lower current
than the trip current of the external GFCI. The internal GFCI may still trip if
the current is higher than the allowed current, but because the internal
inverter GFCI automatically resets when the residual currents are low it does
not require a manual reset. You may consult with the SolarEdge support
center for assistance with this issue.
