Figure 29: Antenna Cable Bend Radius
l
Mount on a surface that is free from dirt, grime, water and grease to avoid damaging the mounting
surface or the vehicle’s paint.
l
Mount so that the cable end faces the rear of the vehicle.
l
For fixed installations ensure that the satellite antenna is pointing towards the equator, facing south
if in the Northern Hemisphere and facing north if in the Southern Hemisphere, and its line-of-sight to
the sky (satellite) is clear of obstructions.
l
For a mobile installation, mount the antenna at the highest point on the vehicle or vessel where it
has a clear view of the sky (satellite) in all directions.
4.3.2 Cellular Antenna Mounting Guidelines
l
Mount indoors, for example, on the inside of a vehicle window, near the transceiver unit.
l
Mount on a flat surface for maximum adhesion.
l
Mount at least 20 mm from metal objects.
l
Mount the antenna at least 1 m away from the satellite antenna.
4.3.3 Determine Terminal Orientation for Accelerometer Use
Remember to mount the terminal on a flat surface, which is either parallel or perpendicular to the ground,
for proper operation of the internal accelerometer.
Mount the terminal in one of the configurations shown below. Refer to [
] for further details.
