IDP-782 - Hardware Guide
SIM card, activated for use with a cellular network, from a Service Provider serving the area the terminal
operates in. The SIM card must support operation on 1.8 V or 3 V. The terminal does not support 5 V SIM
cards. You might want to record the SIM card’s ICCID number in APPENDIX B.
Never insert or remove the SIM card if there is power to the terminal. Terminals with a
backup battery might still be powered on if the power connector is disconnected from the
terminal. In this case, it is recommended that the terminal be powered off locally using
the shutdown command [
] at the shell prompt, or by sending an over-the-air
powerOff message (SIN 17, MIN 1) [
]. The terminal automatically wakes up when the
power connector is reconnected.
1. Disconnect the power connector from the power source.
2. Remove the SIM card door (Figure 19). You might need to remove the screw
1
(used for optional
tamper resistance) if it is attached.

3. Push and release any existing SIM card (Figure 20) to remove it from the SIM holder. The terminal
has dual SIM card holds, with the slot on the left (when looking into the SIM door) being the
main/primary slot.

4. Insert the SIM card, circuit down and the notch facing away from you and to the left (Figure 21).
