DOL 278T

Technical Manual

4.1 Mounting of climate sensors

• Never use a plug on the DOL 12 temperature sensor as a bad connection here could have disas-

trous results.

• Never use shrink-on sleeves when splicing wires inside the livestock house. Use a contact box.

Placing of sensors inside the house

• Place the sensor in the middle of the livestock house.

• In case of animals on floor the sensor is placed 1 meter over the animals (make sure the animals cannot

reach sensors).

• In cages (poultry) the sensor is placed in the middle of the cage height 100 mm from the edge of the cage.

• When using

Tunnel

place the DOL 10 tunnel cooling sensor ¼ in the front zone see drawing.

Tunnel cooling sensor

• Remember that temperature, humidity, alarm and emergency sensors should be placed together, if possible

use board for sensors (are available as accessory).

Do not place the sensor

Cause

Above housing equipment.

The pigs can reach them.

Near cooling system.

Water and humidity will affect the sensors.

In a drafty area.
So it is directly affected by the air intake.

Measures the wrong temperature in the live-
stock house.

Where sunrays can shine on the sensor through windows.
Take into account that the altitude of the sun varies with the
season/time of day.

Measures a too high temperature. Ventilation
level too high.

Above or in a position where it is otherwise affected by the
heating system/heating pipe.

The heat moves up towards the sensors.

Placing of sensors outside the house

• In Combi-Tunnel systems radiation shield must be mounted, in LPV and tunnel systems it is recommended

to mount the radiation shield (available as accessories). Sensor with radiation shield must be placed in the
open air.

• Sensor without radiation shield must be placed on the shady side of the house to avoid the sun. Take into

account that the altitude of the sun varies with the season/time of day.

• As much in the open as possible, but protected from rain and snow.
