WORM DRIVE GEAR LUBRICATION
Your Skilsaw tool has been properly lubricated
and is ready to use. However it is recommended
that the gears be re-lubricated only with Skilsaw
lubricant: No. 80111 (8 oz. tube).
Always check the oil level before using the saw. At
a minimum, the oil should be changed once a year
under heavy use, or after approximately 60 hours
of use.
To check and add oil: Remove the plug from the
power source. Move the blade to its lowest posi-
tion. Place the saw on a flat, stable surface with
the table facing upward (see Fig. 68 ). Remove oil
plug using the 1/2" wrench. Check to ensure that
the oil is not below the level of the threads.
To replace the oil: Place an oil catchment under
the spigot and gently tip the table saw up so that
the oil spigot is pointing down into the oil catch-
ment and the handle is facing upwards. Allow the
oil to drain out of the gear housing. Place the
table saw back level on its feet. Using an oil refill
pipette, refill the oil until it reaches the bottom
threads of the housing. Do not over fill. Replace
the oil plug when finished. Clean off any oil on
the exterior surfaces of the tool prior to use.
NOTE: When checking the oil, if it is dirty or thick,
replace the oil plug and run the saw for one minute
to warm the oil. Then remove oil plug and turn saw
upside down, to remove all oil. Add fresh Skilsaw
lubricant (No. 80111). With a new saw, change
the oil after the first ten hours of use.
CARBON BRUSHES
The brushes and commutator in your tool have
been engineered for many hours of dependable
service. To maintain peak efficiency of the motor,
it is recommended to examine the brushes every
two to six months. The brushes should be free
from dust and dirt. Brushes should be replaced
when they have worn down to 3/16" in length.
The brushes should slide freely in and out of the
holders without sticking.
