1. Application

The aluminium heating ring is developed for 
dismounting inner rings of cylindrical roller  
bearings. The aluminium ring is available for the 
NU, NJ and NUP series, i.e. bearings without

 langes 

or with only one lange in the inner ring.

2.  Technical data

The heating ring is made of an aluminium alloy.
Two different designs are available:
a)    Bore < 200 mm.  

The ring is equipped with three handles as 
shown on the picture.

b)    Bore > 200 mm.  

The ring is equipped with a special locking 
device for pressing the ring around the bearing 
and two handles to facilitate the positioning of 
the ring.

3.  Dismounting procedure

a)  Clean the inner ring and aluminium ring.

b)   Coat the raceway of the inner ring with an oil 

with following speciications:

 

•  heat resisting 280 °C 

(536 °F)

.

 

•  heat transmitting.

 

•  rust preventing.

 

•  high viscosity.

c)   Heat the aluminium ring to 280 °C 

(536 °F)

.

 

 For correct temperature control SKF advises  
the use of a thermometer, e.g. the  
SKF Advanced thermolaser TKTL 10  
with surface probe TKDT 10.

d)   Place the aluminium ring around the bearing 

inner ring and press the handles together  
(or clamp locking device). Wait for a short time, 
then try to rotate the tool with the ring until it 
comes loose from the shaft.

For mounting it is recommended to heat the bearing 
inner ring by means of a hot plate. No open ire, as 
this might change the material structure.
