Setting up the Charger

1.  If fitted, remove the Battery (10) from the Battery Charger (14) (Fig. II (b))
2.  Connect the Battery Charger to the mains power supply
3.  The Green LED (16) on the Battery Charger will illuminate to indicate that the Charger is powered.

 WARNING:

Only use this Charger to charge the supplied Battery or identical Silverline

batteries.

WARNING:

The Battery Charger is designed for indoor use only and must not be exposed to

moisture and rain.

Charging the Battery

WARNING:

Failure to follow the correct procedure when charging the Battery (10) will result

in permanent damage.

Note:

Normal charging time is 1 hour for a recently fully-discharged battery, but if the Battery has

been left in a discharged state for some time, it may take extended time to charge.

1.  Slide a discharged or partially discharged Battery onto the Battery Charger (14) (Fig. II (a))

Note:

Make sure the Battery (10) and Battery Charger are lined up correctly. If the Battery does not

slide onto the Battery Charger easily, don’t force it. Instead, remove the Battery, then check that

the top of the Battery and the Battery Charger slot are clean and undamaged and that the Charger

Terminals (15) are not bent.
2.  Once charging commences, only the Red LED (17) will illuminate

Note:

If the Red LED is not constantly illuminated after an uncharged Battery is inserted into the

Charger, the Battery or Charger may be faulty. Recheck the Battery is fully inserted in the Battery. If

the fault persists do not use and contact your authorised Silverline distributer.
3.  When the Battery is fully charged only the Green LED (16) will be illuminated

Battery Charge Level

The Battery has a built-in Battery Charge Indicator (8). Pressing on the button to the right will

indicate the charge level. The number of bars that illuminate when the button is pressed indicate

the charge level: 1 bar indicates a low charge, 3 bars indicates a full charge.

IMPORTANT:

When a low charge level is indicated be aware the tool may stop operating while in

use. This may be dangerous. It is recommended to always ensure the Battery has a good charge

level.

Notes about battery charging

IMPORTANT: Batteries are an expendable supply whose capacity shortens over time. Always adhere

to the correct handling and charging instructions in the manual. If the battery does not hold charge

or working time is shortened, purchase a genuine Silverline replacement.
• The Battery (10) should be charged at ambient temperatures between 10 and 40°C (ideally

around 20°C)

• After charging, allow 15 minutes for the battery to cool before use
• Ensure that the charger is disconnected from the mains supply after use, and is stored correctly
• Do not leave batteries on charge for extended periods and never store batteries on charge
• The Battery Charger (14) monitors battery temperature and voltage while charging. Remove

the Battery once charging has been completed to maximise charge cycles of the battery and

not waste power

• Batteries can become faulty over time, individual cells in the battery can fail, and the battery

could short. The charger will not charge faulty batteries. Use another battery, if possible, to

check correct functionality of the charger and purchase a replacement battery if a faulty battery

is indicated

• Do not store Lithium-ion battery packs in a discharged state long term. This can damage the

Lithium-ion cells. For long-term storage, store batteries in a high charge state disconnected

from the power tool

• The capacity of batteries will reduce over time. After 100 charge cycles, the battery’s operation

time and the performance will slightly reduce. This decline will continue until the battery has

minimal capacity after 500 charge cycles. This is normal and not a fault with the battery pack

Fitting drill bits & accessories

WARNING:

Always remove the Battery from the drill before attaching, adjusting or removing

accessories.

WARNING:

Do not attempt to tighten drill bits (or any other accessory) by gripping the Chuck

Collar (2) and switching the tool ON. This can lead to personal injury and can cause damage to

the chuck.

WARNING:

Never fit any attachment with a maximum speed lower than the no-load speed of

the power tool or selected gear.
1.  Open the Chuck Jaws (1) by rotating the Chuck Collar anti-clockwise (with the Chuck facing

the operator)

2.  Place the drill bit or accessory centrally into the Chuck Jaws
3.  Tighten the Chuck Jaws by rotating the Chuck Collar clockwise
4.  When the drill bit or accessory is securely fastened, carefully run the tool to test that it is running

centrally, smoothly and evenly. If the bit is 'wobbling' or not running centrally, release the Chuck

Jaws, check the accessory for damage, correct its position, retighten and test again

Operation

Direction control

WARNING: NEVER change the direction of rotation while the tool is running.

•  The direction of rotation can be set using the Forward/Reverse Switch (6)
•  For anti-clockwise rotation, holding the drill in a normal operating position, push the switch

to the right

•  For clockwise rotation, push the switch to the left

Note:

When the Forward/Reverse Switch is in the central position, the drill is locked and cannot

be switched ON. Use this setting as a safety feature to prevent the drill from being switched ON

accidentally.
•  Ensure that drill bits are suitable for the material to be drilled, and are within the maximum

capacity of this power tool (see ‘Specification’)

•  To ensure accuracy, mark the intended hole position using a hammer and centre punch
•  Only apply moderate pressure to the drill bit, ensuring efficient cutting and prolonged drill

bit life

•  Use a countersink bit to remove sharp burrs from the hole, preventing cuts and other kinds

of injury

Torque control

•  This drill driver is fitted with torque control, which limits the torque output of the drill, enabling

screws to be driven without the risk of damage

•  There are 19 torque settings indicated by numbering on the Torque Selector (3) and 1 drill

setting indicated by the drill icon  .The lower the number, the lower the torque

•  The drill setting does not utilise the torque clutch. When the maximum torque is reached the

drill will stall

•  Rotate the Torque Selector until the setting you require is aligned with the setting indicator
•  Check that the torque setting is correct by practising first on a piece of scrap material

WARNING:

The drill can be fitted with a drive adaptor for use with driving nuts and bolts. DO

NOT attempt to use this tool in the drill position when doing so. Use one of the 19 torque setting

to allow the torque clutch to protect the tool from excessive load. The use of a spanner to loosen or

tighten a nut/bolt is recommended. This allows the tool to speed up the operation without risk of

damage when high torque is required at the beginning or end of the operation.

Switching ON & OFF

 WARNING:

Always wear adequate personal protection equipment when setting up and

operating this tool.
1.  To start the drill, squeeze the ON/OFF Trigger Switch (13)

Note:

If the ON/OFF Trigger Switch cannot be pressed down, check that the Forward/Reverse Switch

(6) is not set to its middle position, which locks the device (see “Direction control”).
2.  The speed of the drill is controlled by the movement of the trigger: the further the trigger is

pressed down, the faster the drill will run

3.  Release the ON/OFF Trigger Switch to stop the tool

Note:

A built-in LED Work Light (12) will operate each time the ON/OFF Trigger Switch is pressed, to

illuminate the work area.

Note:

The On-Tool Battery Indicator (5) will operate each time the ON/OFF Trigger Switch is pressed.

The number of bars that illuminate when the button is pressed indicate the charge level; 1 bar

indicating a low charge, 3 bars indicating a full charge.

Screwdriver use

Note:

Use a universal bit holder (not supplied) when working with screwdriver bits. Only mount

screwdriver bits directly into the chuck if it is essential to access a screw head. Use a bit holder at

all other times.
•  When driving screws NEVER use the tool in drill mode. This will protect the motor by causing the

clutch to slip rather than the motor to stall when the screw is fully inserted in the workpiece and

cannot rotate any further

•  Always adjust the drill to the appropriate torque setting (see ‘Drill mode selection’ & ‘Torque

control’)

Note:

If in doubt about which torque setting best suits the application, start with a low setting and

increase, should more torque be required (e.g. if the screw is not being driven far enough into the

workpiece).
