Safety Instructions
Before Cutting
• It is essential to familiarise yourself fully with the correct procedure for setting up the jig before
attempting to start the cut
• Before using this jig we recommend that you perform a few practice joints with off-cuts of
worktops or other materials to familiarise yourself with the jig
• Children and animals should always be kept at a safe distance from your work. Make your work
area child proof
• Always unplug your power tools from the mains power supply before setting up, changing
accessories, making adjustments or maintenance
• Always connect your router and other power tools to a dust extraction system, to maintain a safe
and clean work environment
• Sweep away residual saw dust after each cut to prevent the work area from becoming slippery
• Always ensure that the worktop is supported properly and secured firmly to a bench or trestle
before cutting
• Ensure that the jig is firmly clamped to the surface of the work top
• Make sure the work area is completely clear so that there is the maximum amount of workspace
available
• Each cut should be made from left to right
• The cutter must always enter through the post-formed (front) edge, except when producing the
bolt holes
• When plunging the router, make sure each cut is a maximum of 8mm deep
• Do not use a blunt router cutter as this will severely affect the quality of the final joint
During Cutting
• • Always wear adequate personal protection equipment, including eye protection, ear defenders
and a dust mask, when setting up and using a router and other power tools
• • Make sure that the path of the router is kept clear of any obstructions
• • Make sure that the pegs are firmly in position and are not proud of the jig's surface
• • Ensure that the power cable of the router is clear of the jig and is of sufficient length
• • Always ensure the cutter is not touching the workpiece when starting the router
• • Do not force the router to work too fast. This will result in a poor quality finish and can damage
the router cutter
• • Allow the cutter to come to a complete stop before removing the router from the jig
• • Always keep the router base flat on the jig's surface. Failure to do so could result in the joints
not matching up
• • Do not over-reach the jig. Keep a stable footing at all times
