Figure 52: Replacing the Plate
The following cleaning procedure may be used for common resins such as Wang® and Merrifield®.
1. Remove all excess resin or powder and dispose of it properly.
2. Thoroughly wash all components used for resin dispensing with water and a mild detergent. A soft brush may also be used.
3. Dry all residual water from the resin dispenser components with a lint-free towel.
4. Place the resin dispenser components in a drying oven for about twenty (20) minutes.
Calibration is recommended to correlate the exact mass dispensed to the fixed volume of the dispensing plates. The following is a simple procedure
using the calibration plate and the 4.5 mL polypropylene SiliCycle MiniBlock reaction vessels.
1. Tare weigh twelve (12) SiliCycle MiniBlock reaction vessels.
2. Install the pre-weighed reaction vessels into a SiliCycle MiniBlock. For a Red block, the positions will be F-2, F-4, F-6… F-12 and H-2, H-4, H-6… H12.
For a Blue block, the positions will be F-1, F-3, F-5… F-11 and H-1, H-3, H-5… H-11.
3. Dispense resin, as described in section B.3.2 Dispensing Procedure, using the calibration plate.
4. Re-weigh the reaction tubes to obtain the net weight dispensed. Select a dispensing plate, based on the weights dispensed by the volumes
indicated on the calibration plate.
