If the sleeve is not tightly shrunk around the luer tip, re-heating may be required to complete the process. To do this, place the tube back in the
oven for five (5) more minutes at 350°C. If the problem is not corrected by the second attempt, remove the sleeve and start from the beginning.
In cases where the sleeve is split, melted, or misplaced, remove the Teflon® and apply new material. In order to spot more minor imperfections,
grasp the luer between two fingers and rotate the reaction tube. If the Teflon® sleeve is applied correctly, it will be smooth to the touch. If
imperfections are felt (small areas where the Teflon® did not shrink is most common) evaluate if the reaction tube can be reheated, or if removal
and reapplication is necessary.
