Proceed as follows to adjust the speed:
1. Check that SiliCycle MiniBlocks, counterweights (double shaker) and any manifolds are securely fastened down.
2. Turn POWER switch to ON.
3. Set SPEED to desired revolutions per minute (rpm) using the up and down arrow keys.
For best agitation, choose a shaking speed of 500-700 rpm for the 4.5 mL tubes. For larger reaction tubes, slower speeds may be adequate. You may
need to adjust the speed, depending on the load and the weight distribution on the shaking station to obtain optimal mixing. You should be able to
observe a V-shaped vortex effect in all reaction tubes. If you experience excessive vibration, reduce the speed, reduce the load, or check that the
load is well counter-balanced.

TECH TIP
:
The heat transfer fluid recirculator must perform
to specifications (
e.g. heat capacity, pressure
) consistent
with SiliCycle MiniBlock system design. (
The recirculator unit should be
purchased from, or approved by SiliCycle.
)
WARNING
:
Use only open bath style recirculators with the SiliCycle MiniBlock system.
Consult SiliCycle with any questions on recirculator selection. Do not place
SiliCycle MiniBlocks in incubators, ovens, or refrigerators.
Each SiliCycle Shaking Station has a site for a Recirculator Manifold. These heat transfer fluid distribution manifolds are connected to a temperature
controlled recirculator unit. SiliCycle MiniBlock Heat Transfer Blocks receive heat transfer fluid from the Recirculator Manifold.
The Recirculator Manifold attaches directly on the shaker (Figure 29). Using the T-handle Valve Key provided, secure the Manifold to the shaker top
with the four (4) screws provided. Connect SiliCycle MiniBlocks with Heat Transfer Blocks to the Manifold using the tubing provided.
