5: System Serverboard Information
Note:
The speed of the memory controller will reduce to the lowest speed DIMM on the channel.
•
When configuring the memory for maximum performance, it is critical that the memory
DIMM capacity is balanced across all memory channels.
The maximum speed of the memory controller changes based on the number of DIMMs placed
on the channel and the memory channel speed supported by the processor:
•
With one or two single or dual-ranked DIMMs on the channel (of a 6100 series processor)
the maximum speed supported is 1333 MT/s
•
With one or two single or dual-ranked DIMMs on the channel (of a 6200 or 6300 series
processor) the maximum speed supported is 1600 MT/s
The following conditions must be met to utilize a memory speed of 1600 MT/s:
•
The processor must be capable of supporting 1600 MT/s
•
The DIMMs must be capable of running at 1600 MT/s and be of equal capacity
•
One or two single-rank or dual-rank DIMMs are placed on each channel
Hard Disk Drives (H2106-G7 Chassis)
The 2U chassis supports a maximum of six SAS or SATA disk drives. Install the drives from left
to right starting in the bottom-left bay. Disk drive bays
must
be populated with either a drive or a
“drive blank” to maintain system thermals. Failure to follow this guideline may cause system
overheating and thermal shutdown of the unit.
