Position value (-120.00 ... 5000.00 mm)
In order to avoid leaps occurring around the maximum value at the 0 posi-
tion, this maximum value is limited to 5000 mm. This enables recording of
a range of up to -120 mm in negative travel direction.

Variable boundary
If there is the requirement of extending the measurement range in neg-
ative direction, a positive value can be programmed as the boundary via
service mode interface.
e. g.: boundary = 2000 mm

The service mode serves for test purposes, automatic configuration, and
for computer coupling. Via the RS232 serial interface, the MSA510/1 can
be operated directly from a computer or terminal. The interface must have
the following settings:
4800 baud, no parity, 8 bit word length, 1 start bit, 1 stop bit, no hand-
shake.
Generally, the PC (or the terminal) sends an uppercase letter, together
with additional parameters, if required. The MSA510/1 sends a reply with a
concluding <CR>.
