This short description applies to the PCIe DIO4 module for the SIMATIC IPC227D, hereafter
referred to as "DIO module".
This product information includes important information. The information supplements the
operating instructions for the device and take precedence over statements in the operating

1.2
Product description
The DIO module is a PCIe x1 module and provides four digital 24 V inputs and four digital
24 V outputs. The DIO module also offers eight hardware-based counters (62.5 MHz base
clock) that can be configured for functions such as PWM, frequency measurement and pulse
width measurement.
All functional units (inputs, outputs, counters) can generate interrupts (rising/falling edges,
counter overflows, zero passage, etc.).
