4.2 Defining the place of installation
Installation specification for controlling fire protection installations
For the purpose of controlling fire protection installations in accordance with EN 54-
2, the input/output module FDCIO221 must be integrated into the fire control
housing.
Installation specification for controlling the VdS extinguishing
interface
When the in-/output module FDCIO221 is used to control the VdS extinguishing
interface, it must be built in the control panel housing. Details are described in the
control panel documentation.
Defining the place of mounting
Install the module as close as possible to the fire control. This simplifies the
cabling.
Use the housing FDCH221 for the following installation situations:
– Outside a switch cabinet
– Outside a control panel
– In a wet or dirty environment
You will find more detailed information in the fire detection system documentation.
Procedure
WARNING
Voltages up to AC 250 V on the terminals of the module!
Danger to life through contact with live components!
Use the housing FDCH221 if switching voltages >DC 60 V (ripple <10 % of
average value) or >AC 30 V (peak value max. 42.4 V) on the outputs.
Ensure that the cables are not supplied with voltage during installation.
1. Define the place of mounting. To simplify the cabling the module should be
installed as close as possible to the fire control installations.
2. Use a housing FDCH221 (accessories) when more than DC 60 V or AC 30 V
are applied to the outputs and when the module is not used in a closed switch
cabinet.
