The RS232-interface at port 7 (in fig. 4 RS232/M0) is set as Master-
interface and only used to set the interface parameters for this device.
The RS485-interface at port 6 (in fig. 4 RS485/M0) is set also as Master-
interface. Through this interface runs the data exchange from the first
device (left position) to the Slave-interfaces of the right device (in fig. 4
FO/S11 – FO/S15). The port numbers are set to 11 – 15 for this Slave-
interfaces via the RS232 interface at the device. The parameter

´ of the Master-interface is set to ´
NO
´. This avoids data collision
on the RS485 bus. Only the Master-interface of the first device (Master –
device) replies therefore to a command from the PC with
>REMOTE
.
The optical interfaces at port 1-5 of this device (Slave – device) are set
as Slave-interfaces (in fig. 4 FO/S11 – FO/S15). A unique port number is
set for each interface (here 11-15). A channel selection string from the
PC with a terminal program or from DIGSI V3 is sent through the RS485
Master-interface of the first device (Master – device) to the RS485
Master-interface of the Slave - device. It selects a port there and
switches an active serial connection between the Master port 1 or 7 from
the Master - device with the selected Slave-port of the Slave - device.
Note:
please pay attention to the note on the graded timeout times of the
master interfaces on page 37.
