7

Change the firmware in the device

7.1 Warnings

Warning

Please make only settings and changes
according what is written here. Don´t open the
device or change it.

Warning

The firmware of the device is typ-tested. Only
firmware released from SIEMENS can be used
for a firmware update. Through wrong firmware
dangerous conditions may be possible.

Caution

Only trained personnel may change the
firmware. A unqualified attempt to change the
firmware may lead to failures or the destruction
of the device.

7.2

How to change the firmware

The firmware can be changed without opening the device. To change it
the following procedure is necessary:

•

Switch OFF the device (remove auxiliary power supply voltage)

•

Switch S2.1 and S2.2 to ON position (Bootmode)

•

Connect an IBM-PC compatible device with DOS 6.22 or
WINDOWS® with a zero-modem- or the DIGSI-cable 7XV5100-4 at
the RS232 interface X1.

•

Start the program ´BOOT16x.exe V2.2 or newer. This program is
provided by the manufacturer for a firmware change.

•

Switch OFF the device, when the boot-procedure is finished (shown
by the boot program). Switch OFF the device. Set both S2.1 and
S2.2 into there original state to OFF. Switch ON the device again.

Never switch off the device during the boot procedure.
