If another channel has been selected before and the Active
Transmission Mode with this port is not terminated, the port selection
sequence is ignored and no answer string follows.
If a port is selected, which is not programmed in any device, the answer
string is a:

6.1.2
Passiv Transmission Mode
If in the Active Transmission Mode is selected for one Slave-port in an
Active Mini-Starcoupler, all other cascaded devices change to the
Passive Transmission Mode. Their Master-interfaces receive the datas
sent from the Master- to the Slaveport. If the switched connection is
terminated by a command the Passive Transmission mode is terminated
also and each Master-port is ready for a new port selection string from
the PC.
6.1.3
Termination of the Active Transmission MOde
To deselect a switched port connection an ASCII sequence must be sent
from the terminal program or DIGSI. This sequence is:

This answer also appears if no port has been switched before.
6.1.4
Time out conditions
If there is no reply from a device connected to a Slave-interface after
the duration set in the parameter ´TIMEOUT´ the connection between
Master- and Slaveport is terminated automatically.
If the Masterport doesn´t sent any datas to the selected Slave-port after
the duration set in it´s parameter ´TIMEOUT´ the connection is also
terminated automatically.
After that automatic termination of a connection the Master-interface at
this device generates the message:
