Th e c o ntents o f the Index Re g ister IX are pushed int o
th e ex ternal memor y LIFO (last-in, first-out) Stac k.
The S tac k P o inter (SP) re g ister pair holds the l 6 -bi t
addr e ss o f the current "t o p" of the Stack. Thi s
instructi o n first decrements the SP and loads the hi g h
o rder b y t e of I X into the memory address now specifie d
by the SP; then decrements the SP again and loads the
low order byte into the memory location corresponding to
this new address in the SP.
If the Index Register IX contains 2233H and the Stack
Pointer contains l007H, after the instruction
memory address l006H will contain 22H, memory address
l005H will contain 33H, and the Stack Pointer will
contain l005H.
