5.2.1 U
CE
disconnection
The regenerative power supply unit switches off via the U
CE
protective device if the
maximum current specified for the respective unit is exceeded. The operating principle
of this protective device does, however, cause an overload of the IGBTs for less than
a millisecond far in excess of its specifications for normal operation. This is not usually
a problem for the unit. If this overcurrent disconnection occurs often or regularly, the
result will be an accelerated aging of the power semiconductors and ultimately prema-
ture failure of the component.

disconnections due to overcurrents can be triggered by:
• Overload
• Undervoltage in the supply system
• Defective or oscillating controller, such as in the drive controller
• An oscillating reference value of the controller
• Incorrect dimensioning of the system
