5.2 Pull out rope
Always handle the rope in the hook when spooling in or out by hand.
Be careful not to place hands in the rope eye or the attaching hook.
WARNING
1. Free-spool the winch drum.
Manual free-spool control.
- Pull out the handle for the free-spool control.
Pneumatic or hydraulic free-spool control.
- Free-spool the drum by using the electrical control switch.
2. Pull out the rope manually.
Always pull out the rope manually with the drum disengaged. Never run the rope
while under power.
Always leave enough rope on the drum for at least four revolutions.
Check the drum brake before attempting to use it. If it does not respond correctly,
please refer to the information in the chapter entitled ’Drum brake’.
The purpose of this brake is to prevent the drum from continuing to turn when
unwinding the rope in a free spooling operation.
