07 MTU
The MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) is the maximum sized packet or frame that can
be transmitted in a packet or frame-based network such as TCP/IP. In general, the unit
of octet is used. TCP determines each packet size for all types of transmission. If the
MTU is too large, retransmission is sometimes required when a router cannot handle the
too large packet. On the contrary, if the MTU is to small, the overhead size for header
and transmission/receiving check tends to be large. For most computer operating
systems, you should follow the recommendations from your internet service providers
on whether to change the MTU setting and what value it should be changed to.
■
Select “Application” → “MTU” from the menu.
■
Set the maximum transmittable packet size.
Enter a value between 500 and 1500.
Finally, click the “Apply” button to finish setting.
