CAUTION
Toilet and Holding Tank Systems
Sea Toilet Operation
Ensure before using that the sea cocks are in the fully opened position. When flushing the toilet, operate the pump
handle up and down until the bowl is flushed then switch to the “dry bowl” position and pump out the remaining
water. Should the unit become difficult to flush, add more water. If your toilet requires maintenance or repair, kits
are available from most chandlers.
Sea cocks
These are high-grade bronze fittings mounted on the inlet and outlet sides of the sea toilet. The large seacock is
the discharge and the smaller is the inlet, used for flushing the toilet.
The sea cocks will be found under the cabin floor in close proximity to the toilet (see equipment layout diagrams). It
is good practice to turn the sea cocks off when leaving the boat or if any heavy weather is to be encountered, to
eliminate the possibility of the boat filling with water should a pipe come adrift or fracture.
Waste Tank
When fitted, the waste tank stores all toilet waste. If the "waste tank full lights" on the main power panel illuminates
the tank is approximately 80% full. The tank, depending upon specification, can be emptied in different ways: -
Deck suck out for shore disposal
Electric pump out to the sea when well off shore
Only normal toilet paper should be used, no other foreign matter should be flushed down the toilet.
Keep discharge sea cocks CLOSED except when discharging to sea.
Grey Tank
When fitted this tank is used for all sink and shower waste. This tank also will display a full warning light on the
main power panel when the tank is approximately 80% full. The grey tank is normally only emptied via a deck suck
out. A periodic inspection of the various hose connections, etc., is advised.
