Unpacking – Preparations prior to the first ride
After its production, your bike has gone through comprehensive quality and
safety checks. However, both handlebar and pedals have to be loosened
prior to packaging in order to bring them into a transport-ready position.
Should you have bought your bike at one of our dealers, the following
operations will have already been carried out for you.
1. Your bike was delivered in a specialized bike box. Please make sure that
the arrows on the box point upwards.
The following points must be carried out with utmost care
and all screws have to be fastened with the necessary
torque. Danger of accident!
Never use your Schindelhauer Bike when the MAX
marking on your seat post can be seen!
All forwarding companies are required to ensure that the
arrows on the box are pointing upwards at all times during
the transport. Make sure to check for dirt stains, scratch
marks etc. on the upper side of the box, maybe indicating
an upside-down transport. Should that be the case, please
do not hesitate to contact Schindelhauer Bikes or one of
our dealers and have your bike checked for any possible
transport damage.
i
2. After you have taken your bike out of the box and have familiarized
yourself with the manual, carefully remove all cushioning and packaging
materials.
3. Make sure that both screws on the stem (cf. fig. 1) are loosened. Turn
the handlebar approx. 90° into its “going-straight” position. The stem
and front tire have to align.
4. Slightly fasten screw 1 (fig. 1 in order to adjust the bearing play (~ 1-3
Nm).
5. Then fasten screw 2 with the stated torque (page 38).
6. Screw the pedals, with the supplied paste, to the crank arms and fasten
them with the stated torques (page 38).
Please be aware that the right pedal has a right-hand
thread and the left pedal a left-hand thread. The pedals
also have marking on their axles (fig 3).
!
7. Set the right saddle height for your needs.
8. Rule of thumb: saddle height = inseam length incl. shoes (inner leg
length) x 0.85.
12. Make sure that all screwing connections on your bike are fastened.
13. Check the tire pressure and correct if necessary (page 37).
