PARAMETER
DESCRIPTION
The DRAFT menu is used to measure the chimney draught or pull-off measurement. This is a vacuum, so the draft
should be measured using the negative pressure inlet P-. The correct values for a natural draught boiler will
therefore be positive by definition. If the external temperature at the time of measurement is entered, the
instrument will also provide the draught value as a reference (P diff. ref.) to the external temperature of 20°C, as
required by the regulations. If the external temperature entered exceeds 20°C, the instrument will report a draught
reference value equal to that of the measured draught.
Before taking the measurement, it is possible to enter the external temperature according to the requirements of the
standard. It is then possible to save the displayed value to add it to the measurements of the current analysis or to
print the corresponding report by entering the PRINT menu.
N.B.: the measurement may not be accurate due to condensation formation inside the gas probe. If
the instrument reading is inaccurate or unstable, disconnect the gas probe from the instrument and
purge the tubes of moisture by blowing compressed air into them. To be sure that there is no
moisture, take a measurement using the transparent rubber tube provided.
Smoke
It is possible to enter data from one to three opacity measurements performed with an optional device, see the
related instructions.
The method consists of taking a certain amount of flue gas from the central part of the chimney flue behind the
exchanger surface at the end of the boiler, passing it through a special filter paper. The resulting soot stain is
compared with the blackened surfaces differently on the scale of existing responses and the "amount of soot" is
calculated, which will be manually entered into the system. The instrument calculates the average from the
automatically inserted values. Measurements can be recorded with combustion analyses or printed on a report.
Ambient CO
This function allows the evaluation of the peak value of the CO gas present in a room in order to check the safety
conditions before accessing it. It is advisable to work in an environment where the concentrations indicated in the
safety standards reported below are not exceeded:
COmax
: 35 ppm: Recommended Exposure Limit Value (REL) by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and
Health (NIOSH) equivalent to 40 mg/m
3
and calculated against an 8-hour reference period as a TWA
(Time-Weighted Average).
Autozero must be carried out in clean air for the ambient CO measurement to be
correct. It is recommended to turn on the instrument and wait outside of the room
where the test is to be performed until the autozero is complete.
