SETUP MODE

LCD MONITOR BRIGHTNESS

The brightness of the LCD monitor can be set in eleven levels. The brightness 
setting screen is opened from section 1 of the setup menu (page 91). 

Use the left/right keys of the controller to 
adjust the brightness, the monitor image 
changes accordingly. 
Press the center button of the controller to 
set the brightness level. 

FORMATTING CARDS

CAUTION

When a card is formatted, all data on the 
card is erased. 

The formatting function is used to erase 
all data on a card. Before formatting a 
card, copy the data to a computer or 
storage device. Locking images will not 
protect them from being deleted when the 
card is formatted. Always format the card 
using the camera; never use a computer 
to format a card. 

When the format option is selected and entered in section 1 of the setup 
menu (page 91), a confirmation screen appears. Choosing “Yes” formats the 
card, choosing “No” cancels the formatting operation. A message appears to 
indicate the card has been formatted. 

If the unable-to-use-card message appears, the inserted card in the camera 
may need to be formatted. A card used in another camera may also have to 
be formatted before being used.
