CAPTURING STILL IMAGES

Set the camera to the still image shooting mode (see page 41).

Press the shutter release button to
take the picture.

Point the camera lens at the subject.
Slowly press and hold the shutter
release button halfway.

The target mark [
] or the focus
icon [
] (focus-lock) appears in
the LCD monitor.
h
The figures appearing in the
lower left area of the LCD monitor
are the shutter speed and aper-
ture at the time the focused point
was photographed.

If the Shooting Setting Screen
(see pages 53, 94) or Shooting
Information Screen (see page
113) was displayed, it is exited.

Press the shutter release button all
the way.

The image is captured.
NOTE
About the focus icon and target mark
i
The target mark outlines the area that the camera is using to focus. If the
area outlined by the target mark is not the subject you want to focus on,
then refocus your subject, for example by changing the shooting angle.

The target mark does not appear in the following situations.
When the subject is not in focus
When using the self-timer to take a picture (see page 63)
When the focus is set to spot focus (see page 103)
When the focus is set to focus range
,
or
(see page 65)

When the camera focuses on a wide area of the central part of the screen,
a large target mark appears.
