Recording from external sources
This unit can record music, etc played on external equipment such as CD or MD
players, radio-cassette recorders, and component stereos.

Turn the power on. (See Page 12)

Set the [Microphone/Line input] switch to the "LINE" position.

Use a commercially available audio cable to connect the external
input socket of this unit with the audio output (headphone)
socket of the external source.

- When recording begins with the VAS function on, recording will
occur for two seconds just after starting, regardless of whether
sound is detected or not.
- If the voice level is lower than a certain level for approximately
two seconds, recording pauses.
- Since low voices may not be recorded during the use of the VAS
function, to ensure recording in such situations, turn off the VAS
function.

Setting the voice sensing level (VAS value)
You can adjust the voice sensing level in five steps
(1-5) to accomodate the source volume level.
A larger value will increase the voice activation
sensitivity so recording will be triggered by lower-
level audio. If the value is too small, this unit may not
detect voice. Set the microphone sensitivity (see page
18) in accordance with the source input level so that
the VAS function can work more effectively.
Procedure:
To adjust the voice sensing level, press the [

recording with the VAS function turned on.
