Checking Basic Telephone Functions
You should first check the basic functions of the SMG-3000 phone system: these include making internal
and external calls, the internal callback function and the external line callback function. When selecting the
phone from which to carry out the tests, make sure that it has been assigned a class of service that allows the
functions being tested. Refer to the user guide supplied with your phone for any function codes required.
Checking Internal Calls Function
Check that communication between internal users is available.
1. Lift the handset of an internal telephone and confirm that you can hear internal dial tone.
2. Dial the first digit of another internal telephone number and check that the dial tone stops.
3. Dial the remaining digits of the number and check that you can hear the ring back tone.
4. Have someone answer the ringing phone and check the line quality.
5. Ask the called party to end the call and make the phone unavailable to take calls. Replace your handset
and redial the phone number. Confirm that you can hear busy tone.
