Connecting the PC for MAP
The MAP PC provides various functions for:
•
configuring the system when setting it up, or when new system components are installed or existing ones
are changed;
•
maintaining and repairing the system.
The SMG-3000 system is connected to the MAP PC through one of the 25-pin serial ports (I/O 0 – I/O 2) or
the I/O 4 (LAN) port. Let’s consider each option.
Note: When you finish installation and start the MAP to configure your system, you must enter the parameters for the
I/O ports on the PMS PC and the SMG-3000 being used. Refer to the
MAP User Guide
on the DCS Gateway CD-ROM
for details.
Connecting to a 25-pin Serial Port Using an RS-232C Cable
1. Prepare an RS-232C cable with one 25-pin connector and one 9-pin connector.
2. Connect the 9-pin end of the RS-232C cable to the 9-pin serial port on the rear of the MAP PC.
3. Connect the other end of the cable to one of the 25-pin ports (I/O 0 – I/O 2) on the SMG-3000.
