8-4 Maintenance schedule
INSIDE THE VEHICLE
The maintenance items listed
here should be checked on a
regular basis, such as when
performing periodic maintenance,
cleaning the vehicle, etc.
Warning/indicator lights and
buzzers/chimes make sure that
all warning/indicator lights and
buzzers/chimes
are
operating
properly.
Steering wheel Check for change
in the steering conditions, such as
excessive free play, hard steering
or strange noises.
Seat belts check that all parts of
the seat belt system (e.g. buckles,
anchors, adjusters and retractors)
operate properly and smoothly,
and are installed securely. Check
the belt webbing for cuts, fraying,
wear or damage.
UNDER THE HOOD AND
VEHICLE
The maintenance items listed
here
should
be
checked
periodically e.g. each time you
check the engine oil or refuel.
Windshield washer fluid* Check
that there is adequate fluid in the
tank.
Engine coolant level* Check the
coolant level when the engine is
cold.
Engine oil level* Check the level
after parking the vehicle on a level
spot and turning off the engine.
Brake and clutch fluid level*
Make sure that the brake and
clutch fluid level is between the
MAX and MIN lines on the
reservoir.
PRECAUTIONS
When performing any inspection
or maintenance work on your
vehicle, always take care to
prevent serious accidental injury
to yourself or damage to the
vehicle. The following are general
precautions which should be
closely observed.

Park the vehicle on a level
surface, apply the parking
brake securely and move the
transmission control lever to
neutral (“N”).
●
When working under the
engine hood, turn the engine
off and wait until it cools down.
●
Be sure to turn the ignition
key to the “OFF” position when
performing any replacement or
repair.
●
If you must work with the
engine running, keep your
hands, clothing, hair and tools
away from moving fans and fan
belts.
●
It is advisable to remove
necktie and any jewelry, such
as rings, watch, etc. before
working on your vehicle.
●
If you must run the engine
in an enclosed space such as a
garage, be sure there is proper
ventilation for exhaust gases.
●
Never get under the vehicle
while it is supported only by a
