OPERATION
REPLACEMENT PARTS
READ complete manual CAREFULLY
BEFORE attempting operation.
Materials
Some feed materials will first need to be processed alone in the mixer before they can be efficiently mixed with other
feed stuffs. These materials include;
•
Large square or round bales of alfalfa*
•
Large square or round bales of high moisture “Baleage”*
•
Large square or round bales of long mixed grasses, wheat or oat hay and crop residues bales*
•
Very light and bulky feedstuffs*
* Always remove twine from bales before loading into the mixer.
Mixer Setup
•
Be sure that mixer is sitting level front to back and side to side. This will ensure a level and even
mix of feed.
•
Be sure the tractor is sitting straight in line with the mixer. This will prevent premature wear
`
to the drive line and gearboxes.
•
Completely close mixer door.
•
Set hay restrictors according to instructions in the Mixer Operation section.
Loading
•
With the tractor running at approximately PTO speed, load baled hay into the center of the mixer.
•
Allow the mixer enough time to process the bale before adding other ingredients (4 to 10 minutes).
If inspection of the processing/mixing progress is required, always shut off mixer and tractor before
climbing the ladder to inspect the load.
•
Processing of long stem forages will continue as other materials are added and mixed. Be careful
not to over process these materials before adding other ingredients.
Adjustments
When processing materials, there may be spillage over the side of the mixer. The following steps are to help reduce
spillage:
•
Reduce load size.
•
Reduce tractor/mixer RPM.
•
Be sure mixer is level.
•
Be sure augers and hipper are polished so the feed moves easier inside mixer.
•
Adjust “Hay Restrictors” to a less aggressive or “out” position.
•
If spillage still occurs, the optional side extensions may need to be installed.
STEP #1 PROCESSING
Warning:
While loading the machine, be certain that no bucket or loading device comes into contact
with the rotating auger inside the mixing chamber. This may cause serious damage to the
mixer and/or loader, and may cause injury or death to the operator.
Warning:
A loaded machine (machine and payload) may weigh as much as 21,000 lbs (9,500 kg). An
operator must use his own discretion when negotiating rough and uneven terrain. Improper
operation of the loaded machine can cause loss of control, severe injury, or death.
Warning:
Never load an unhitched machine. The machine is designed to be loaded only when
properly hitched to a suitable tractor. Improper loading can cause loss of control,
severe injury, or death.
Danger:
Never enter the mixing chamber or go on the conveyor unless all controls are in neutral,
engine stopped, park brake set, ignition key removed and all moving parts have stopped.
Failure to follow these safety precautions can result in serious injury or death.
Important:
Always remove twine, string, and wrapping material from bales and/or other commodities
from the ground that will be loaded into the mixing chamber. Failure to follow these
requirements can cause damage to the machine.
