Adjusting drive engagement
If it seems that the forward drive is not work-
ing properly due to a change in length of the
belt after having been replaced or after a long
period of use, the tension of the spring (1)
can be adjusted by turning the nuts (2) until
the indicated measure is obtained (120 ÷ 122
mm measured from the outer end of the
spring). Once the adjustment has been made, tighten the nuts.
Sharpening blades
Check that the blade is sharpened properly and firmly fixed to the bracket.
– A badly sharpened blade pulls at the grass and causes the lawn to turn yellow.
– A loose blade causes unusual vibrations and can be dangerous.
All operations on the blades (dismantling, sharpening,
balancing, remounting and/or replacing) require a certain familiarity and
special tools. For safety reasons, go to a specialized centre if you do not
have the right tools or experience.
Wear strong gloves when handling the blades.
To remove a blade, hold it firmly and undo the central bolt (1)
in the direction
indicated by the arrow for each blade, noting that one of the fixing bolts has
a right-hand thread and the other one has a left-hand thread.
Sharpen the
two cutting edges using a medium grade grinding wheel and check the balance
by holding the blade up with a round 18 mm Ø bar inserted in the central hole.
Damaged or bent blades must always be replaced; never
