GENERAL SAFETY RULES
Q
Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected
from the battery, avoid contact. If contact
accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid
contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help.
Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or
burns.
Q
When servicing a battery product, use only
identical replacement parts. Follow instructions
in the Maintenance section of this manual.
Use of
unauthorized parts or failure to follow Maintenance
instructions may create a risk of shock or injury.
Q
Know your battery product. Read operator’s
manual carefully. Learn its applications and
limitations, as well as the specific potential
hazards related to this product.
Following this rule
will reduce the risk of electric shock, fire, or serious
injury.
Q
Battery products do not have to be plugged into
an electrical outlet; therefore, they are always in
operating condition. Be aware of possible hazards
when not using your battery product or when
changing accessory.
Following this rule will reduce
the risk of electric shock, fire, or serious personal
injury.
Q
Do not place battery products or their batteries
near fire or heat.
This will reduce the risk of explosion
and possibly injury.
Q
Do not crush, drop or damage battery pack. Do
not use a battery pack or charger that has been
dropped or received a sharp blow.
A damaged
battery is subject to explosion. Properly dispose of a
dropped or damaged battery immediately.
Q
Batteries can explode in the presence of a source
of ignition, such as a pilot light.
To reduce the risk
of serious personal injury, never use any cordless
product in the presence of open flame. An exploded
battery can propel debris and chemicals. If exposed,
flush with water immediately.
Q
For best results, your battery product should be
charged in a location where the temperature is
more than 10°C but less than 34.4°C.
To reduce the
risk of serious personal injury, do not store outside or
in vehicles.
SPECIAL SAFETY RULES
Q
Before you use the meter, inspect the case. Pay
particular attention to the insulation surrounding
the connectors. Inspect the test leads for damaged
insulation or exposed metal. Check the test leads for
continuity. Replace damaged test lead before you use
the meter.
Q
Do not use the meter if it operates abnormally.
Protection may be impaired. When in doubt, have the
meter serviced.
Q
Do not operate the meter in a place where flammable
or explosive gas (or dust) is present.
Q
Do not apply more than the rated voltage, as marked
on the meter, between terminals or between any
terminal and earth ground.
Q
When measuring current, turn off circuit power before
connecting the meter in the circuit. Remember to
place the meter in series with the circuit.
Q
Use caution when working with voltage above 30V
AC rms, 42V peak, or 60V DC. Such voltages pose a
shock hazard.
Q
When using the probes, keep your fingers behind the
finger guards on the probes.
Q
When making connections, connect the common test
lead before you connect the live test lead.
Q
When you disconnect test leads, disconnect the live
test lead first.
Q
Remove all test leads from the meter before you open
the battery cover or portion of the case.
Q
Do not operate the multimeter with the battery door or
portions of the case loosened or removed. The battery
door should be securely closed before operating the
multimeter.
Q
To avoid false readings, which could lead to possible
electric shock or personal injury, replace or charge the
battery as soon as the low battery indicator (
)
appears.
Q
Use the meter only as specified in this manual;
otherwise the safety features of the meter may be
impaired.
Q
When in Relative mode or in Data Hold mode, caution
must be used because hazardous voltage may be
present.
Q
Do not electrically connect yourself to ground. Use
extreme caution because you may ground yourself if
you are careless.
Q
Do not operate this meter if your hand or the meter is
wet.
Q
Adhere to local and national safety codes.
Q
Use Individual protective equipment to prevent shock
and arc blast injury when working in an area where
hazardous live conductors are exposed.
Q
Remaining endangerment: When an input terminal is
connected to dangerous live potential, it is to be noted
that this potential at all other terminals can occur!
