a. The PLC waits for 5 seconds to allow the engine controller time to come online, then
starts the oil pump and engine fuel booster pump.
b. When oil pressure is greater than 3 PSI for 2 seconds, the engine starter is
energized. Starter will attempt to start the engine for 10 seconds; if the engine has
not started, it will pause for 3 seconds. If after 3 attempts the engine has not started,
the HMI will display an alarm - (0501) ENGINE OVER CRANK.
c. Engine speed will be increased to 1200 RPM and the compressor will run unloaded.
d. If coolant temperature is above 96°F the engine will run at user selected speed.
e. When coolant temperature reaches 120°F, or when the coolant temperature is at
operating temperature plus the engine has been running for at least 1 minute, load
control will be enabled, and the compressor can load.
4.2. Stopping the Compressor
To shut off the compressor, turn the key-switch to the “OFF” position. The PLC controls
the timed Shutdown sequence of the compressor.
Shutdown is not allowed when the
engine is in a regeneration cycle.
When there is a shutdown alarm, the Shutdown
sequence will occur automatically.
The Shutdown sequence is as follows:
a. The load solenoid de-energizes, unloading the compressor.
Compressor runs for cooldown unloaded for 90 seconds;
engine speed is held at user selected speed.
b. Engine speed is reduced to 1200 RPM for 90 seconds. If
engine temperature is already below running temperature, or
if the engine is shutting off due to an alarm, the cooldown
cycle is reduced to 60 seconds.
c. Engine is signaled to stop.
d. Engine Post Run is active, giving 80 seconds for the
aftertreatment DEF lines purge to occur.
e. Engine Switched Power is then cycled.
WARNING: When compressor service is being performed the air service valve must
be closed and the power disconnected. Safety procedures must be
strictly followed, with lock-out and tag-out procedures required.
4.1. Automatic Stop
Standby mode allows the compressor to shut down automatically when it has not been
loaded for a set period of time, in order to conserve energy. While the compressor is in
Standby, the green "Standby" light on the control panel will be lit and the status bar
showing “STANDBY ACTIVE”. The compressor will restart automatically from Standby if
it detects a drop of pressure below the "Load" setpoint. If applicable, it will also restart
upon receiving a "run" signal from the external Remote Run contact.
When the Compressor is running unloaded, a timer is started. If the compressor outlet
pressure does not drop below the Load pressure setting, the compressor will shut-down
When illuminated, this
