WARNING
To protect yourself from harm, before performing maintenance:

Turn off the electrical power supply by unplugging the power cord or by
turning off the electricity at the circuit breaker. (The temperature controller
does not control the electrical power.)

Turn off the gas at the manual gas valve, usually located immediately below
the water heater.

Turn off the incoming water supply. This can be done at the isolation valve
immediately below the water heater or by turning off the water supply to the
building.
1.Disconnect the electrical power.
2.Turn off the gas supply.
3.Remove 4 screws securing the front panel. Remove front panel. For indoor
models, remove the controller bracket.
4.Remove 2 screws from the retainer clip securing gas line that connects gas valve
to manifold assembly. (FIGURE 1)
5.Rotate retainer clip to release the gas line. (FIGURE 2)
6.Disconnect the gas line from the gas valve, ensure the o
-
ring remains intact.

7.Disconnect POV solenoid wire harness. (YL/YL wired connection on rear of gas
valve). (FIGURE 2)
8.Disconnect SV0 main solenoid wire harness (PK/BK wired connection on front of
gas valve). (FIGURE 2)
9.Remove 3 screws from inlet gas connection on bottom of unit. (FIGURE 3)
10.Install new gas valve and inlet gas connection in place using 3 screws.

11.Connect POV (YL/YL wired connection rear of gas valve), and SV0 (PK/BK
wired connection front of gas valve) wire harnesses to the gas valve.

12.Connect gas line pipe onto gas valve. Rotate clip onto gas line pipe join to the
gas valve. (FIGURE 2)
13.Secure the retainer clip into place using 2 screws. (FIGURE 1)
14.Calibrate low and high fire manifold pressure settings. See Pages 52
-
54.
15.Install the front panel using four screws.
