Important.

For your own safety, before using this equipment,

read these instructions and the accompanying

safety booklet carefully and completely.

Keep these instructions.

1. GENERAL

1.1 Specifications.

The SeeSnake/Mini-SeeSnake is designed for use as a pipe inspection tool. We strongly
recommend that it NOT be modified and/or used for any other application.
Physical characteristics, capacity and standard equipment: see Fig 1.

A SeeSnake consists of a reel (with push cable and camera head) and a monitor
system.

All B&W monitor systems (monitor, toolbox, m VCR and VSM) can be used
with all B&W reels (mini + regular).
All Colour monitor systems (m VCR, VSM) can be used with all colour reels
(mini + regular).

1.2 Transport and handling.

Avoid shocks or violent movements.

1.3 Safety.

Ground machine. Always plug the cord into a properly grounded supply socket
protected with a residual current device having a trip current of maximum
30 mA. Do not attempt to open the camera housing or monitor. Doing so will void the
warranty and is potentially dangerous.
Do not use the equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres.

1.4 Set up and operation.

• Check all accessories (Fig 1).
• Install wheels on to cable drum (Fig 2).
• Check that camera head and spring (Fig 3) pull from drum without

restriction.

• Unwrap the power/signal cable from the cable drum and plug into socket

on the front of the monitor (Fig 4A).

• Raise and lock sun shield in position on monitor (Fig 5) and plug line cord

into power socket (Toolbox can also be battery powered).

• Switch on monitor and check that picture is clear.
• Adjustments for brightness, contrast and a control for the LED brightness

are located on the monitor. These adjustments should be made
when the camera is in the pipe.

• Feed camera head into drain by pushing the cable and check the progress

by watching the picture on the monitor.

• Use rubber grip-type gloves for better grip.
• Clean lens in clear water before using camera.
• Do not force or kink the push cable. Avoid any sharp edges. The camera

and cable may be damaged by abrasion or by forcing or striking obstacles.

• Keep water flowing if possible to reduce friction and help keep camera

clean.

• Do not let cable fold back on itself.
Tip: -When you let water flow into the pipe, you can easily see the downside of

the pipe. This will help you to see the way the camera head is oriented into
the pipe.

-Don’t push the cable while holding your hands too far from the entry point.

This may kink the cable and possibly damage it, especially when you arrive
at a difficult turn. When arriving at a difficult point push the camera further
in distances of 30-40 cm.

When the inspection is finished, pull the cable from the pipe while holding a cloth
wrapped around it to remove the dirt and feed it into the cable drum. Do not use the
drum to “wind in” the cable. Thoroughly rinse the camera head and spring before
stowing away in the drum.
• Do not use solvents or other harsh cleaners.

1.5 Mounting/Changing Guides

Slip guide over spring and secure in place with metal snap ring (Fig 6).

1.6 Maintenance.

Keep the cable clean and check for cuts. Clean cable drum by flushing with water -
note drain plug (Fig. 7). Wipe monitor with dry cloth.

Operating Instructions

1.7 Removing the camera head and installing the
transmitter.

Removing the camera head.
For both SeeSnake and Mini SeeSnake the principle is the same.
1. Hook the spanner wrench at the cut of the spring (Fig. 8).
2. Hold spanner wrench still and turn the camera head off the spring (Fig. 8).
3. Then the camera head is held by the locking sleeve (Fig. 9).
4. Hold camera still and turn locking sleeve until connector is complete

unscrewed. The camera head now should be loose, if not, pull straight
apart (Fig. 10).

DO NOT TWIST CONNECTORS

 (Fig. 11).

Reinstalling the camera head
1. Plug connector and locking sleeve into the camera head, make sure that

the guide pin/sockets are aligned. Be sure to fully seat the connectors
without any twisting.

2. Grasp the camera head with one hand and turn the ribbed portion of the

locking sleeve to screw it into the back of the camera. Be sure not to twist
the safety cables more than one rotation.

Important: do not twist the camera head or coil cord! Turn only the locking sleeve.
3. Once locking sleeve is tight into the back of the camera and the safety

cables are parallel to each other, turn the camera head one rotation
counter clockwise. Then rotate camera head clockwise onto
the spring assembly. Check that the safety cables are not twisting inside
the spring. Be sure to use only your hands (NO TOOLS) when screwing
the camera onto the spring.

Note: the camera head will be properly mounted when the end of the spring is
snug between the camera and the thread (not so far that it begins to raise off the
threads) and you cannot manually unscrew the camera.

Installing the transmitter
- SeeSnake transmitter: if camera head is loose. Place the transmitter

between the cable and the camera head. Push transmitter inside spring
and mount the camera head back on cable by locking sleeve and then
mount the camera head on the spring.

- Mini SeeSnake transmitter: see installation guide with transmitter.

Set up:
Transmitter
Activating the mini SeeSnake transmitter: turn the dimmer/transmitter knob to the far
left position. When the knob is in this position there will be interference on the monitor
and the LEDs on the power supply will flash with a steady pattern when the transmitter
is activated.

Note:

If using the regular SeeSnake transmitter, this is always activated when powering

the system. You don’t need to use this transmitter knob.
