Explanation of pictograms
Operating the RP 10-S Press Fit tool.
Fitting of the jaws (See Fig. 1)
• Rotate the lock pin (Fig. 1 ref 1) positioned at the R/h side of the jaw holder 180
°
to open the jaw mounting pin, and pull out the lock pin.
• Insert the correct jaw (Fig. 1 ref 2) (size and specification of the fitting) into the
jaw-mounting opening.
• Insert the lock pin into the hole situated in the jaw side plate, and firmly close the
lock pin by positioning it back into the original position (Fig. 2).
Performing the Press Fit action
• Check that the correct jaws have been fitted for the joint that is going to be
pressed.
• Connect the tool to a power source, and place the jaws over the fitting
• Press the ON/OFF switch (Fig. 1 ref 3) to start the Press Fit cycle.
Important: Keep fingers and hands away from jaws during pressing cycle!
• Wait until the complete pressing cycle has been completed.
• The tool features an automatic pressing facility. This ensures a full pressing cycle
at all times. For safety reasons, the automatic pressing facility only engages after
having reached a specific counter force (after approx. 1 second). Until then, the
pressing process can be interrupted at all times by releasing the ON/OFF switch. If
you release the ON/OFF switch before the automatic pressing facility engages, the
piston will stop at the position it has reached.
• If the pressing cycle was not completed correctly an audible warning will sound
to inform the operator of the error. See TROUBLESHOOTING.
Important: In order to ease the load of the machine in a dangerous situation you
should firmly press the yellow pressure relief button (Fig. 1 ref. 5). The
hydraulic pressure decreases, the piston retracts and the pressure on the tool as
well as the jaw will be relieved.
Rotating the jaw holder
• The jaw holder can be rotated through 180
°
(Fig.3)
• Push the crown (Fig. 1 ref 4) on the jaw holder outwards to rotate the head of the
Press Fit tool to the required position. Note: the head is only locked in the vertical
position.

• If a power failure interrupts the pressing cycle, press the manual release switch
(Fig. 1 ref 5) to reopen the jaws and remove the tool from the pipe.
• Whenever a pressing cycle is not fully completed, either due to a power failure or
after the acoustic alarm has been activated, the complete procedure must be
repeated.
• It is strongly recommended to never attempt to repeat a pressing cycle that has
been interrupted. This may lead to damage to the joint and possible leakage. The
joint should be cut out and replaced by a new one.
• The use of jaws not specifically designed for pressing the fittings being used may
lead to damage and incorrectly compressed fittings.
Contact your RIDGID Press Fit Service Centre for any malfunction not covered in
this instruction manual.
