10.8 Conversion Factors for Secondary Units
The
820i
has the capability to mathematically convert a weight into many different types of units and instantly display those
results with a press of the
UNITS
key.
Secondary and tertiary units can be specified on the FORMAT menu using the SECNDR and TERTIA parameters, or by using
serial commands.
• To configure secondary or tertiary units using the front panel menus, use the Table 10-8 to find the conversion multiplier
for the MULT parameter. For example, if the primary unit is pounds and the secondary unit is short tons, set the MULT
parameter to 0.000500.
• To configure secondary or tertiary units using serial commands, use the Table 10-8 to find the conversion multiplier for
the SC.SEC.MULT or SC.TER.MULT command. For example, if the primary unit is pounds and the secondary unit is
short tons, send the serial command SC.SEC.MULT= 0.0005<CR> to set the multiplier for the secondary units.
Ensure that the secondary decimal point position is set appropriately for the scale capacity in the secondary units. If
the converted value requires more digits than are available, the indicator displays an overflow message (OVERFL).
For example, if the primary units are short tons, secondary units are pounds, and the secondary decimal point is set to
8888.888, the indicator will overflow if 5 tons or more are applied to the scale. With 5 tons applied, and a conversion factor of
2000, the secondary units display needs five digits to the left of the decimal point to display the 10000 lb secondary units value.
