NOTE
: A new chain and guide will need to be readjusted after as little as 5 cuts. This is normal during the
break-in period and the interval between future adjustments will lengthen rapidly.
CAUTION: If a chain is too loose or too tight, the chain and saw bearings will wear out more
quickly. Study Fig. 3 for information on the correct cold tension (A), the correct warm tension (B) and a
guide for cases where the saw chain needs to be adjusted (C).
CAUTION: Chain too loose if more than 3 mm after applying force with finger as shown in Fig 3.

Make sure the chain brake is disengaged.
Disengage the chain brake (A) by pulling it backwards. (Fig. 4A)

1. Loosen the side cover knob a few turns (Fig. 4B).
2. Tighten the side cover knob. The saw chain is properly tensioned (Fig. 4C).
