1.
Remove the packed liferaft in its valise from the aircraft.
Caution:
Do not pull or jerk the inflation lanyard as this may cause operation of the
inflation system. Inadvertent activation of the inflation system may cause
personal injury or damage to raft components.
2.
Remove the liferaft from the valise as follows:
Pull open the fasteners on the valise. Disconnect the inflation handle from the side of the valise
(See Fig.1) Carefully loosen the cable loop from the inflation valve pull cable loop. Firmly hold
the inflation valve pull cable loop, then, WITH CARE, pass the painterline sachet back through the
cable loop. (See Fig. 2) Take off the painterline sachet after everything has been disconnected
and place it to the side.
Warning:
Although the inflation lanyard is now disconnected from the inflation
system, the inflation system is still charged and armed. Maintain caution
while handling any part of the inflation system, with special attention to
the gas relief pull cables.
3.
Loosen the inflation lanyard from around the neck of the cylinder and pass the painterline sachet
back through the cylinder neck loop to disconnect. (See Fig. 3)
4.
Unfold the raft and lay it out flat on the working surface. (See Fig. 4)
5.
Using a wrench, disconnect the inflation valve from the fixed inlet check valve. Ensure that the
inflation valve pull cable loop does not become caught on any projections as this may cause the
liferaft to inflate and cause possible injuries. Remove the cylinder from the holder on the outside
of the buoyancy tube. (See Detail A)
6.
Once the cylinder is disconnected from the raft, screw diffuser caps to outlets.
Warning:
The charged gas cylinder can become a lethal projectile if discharged to
atmosphere when not fitted with a cap. Always fit a diffuser cap to a
cylinder valve outlet when handling a fully charged cylinder.
Warning:
Do not attempt to dismantle the CO
2
cylinder until it has been completely
discharged.
10.
Securely place cylinder to side for testing. (See Chapter 4 Testing)
11.
Remove other items of equipment if necessary.
12.
See Chapter 8, Assembly and Packing, for disassembly and rebuilding of Inflation Valve.
