5.5.1 Attaching the filament spool
⇒ Place the filament spool (8) on the filament spool holder (7) in
such a way that the filament can be inserted into the filament
sensor from underneath�
Ensure that the filament spool is placed on the filament spool
holder in such a way that the filament can be inserted clock -
wise into the FMS from underneath (Fig. 20).
Only use Renfert filaments, as they do not result in any gases
during printing that are harmful to health.
If using alternative filaments, ensure that no gases are re -
leased during printing that are harmful to health.
5.6 Loading the filament

5.6.1 Selecting the filament / starting heating
For loading, the extruder must be pre-heated to operating temperature (= printing temperature).
The temperature values for the extruder (= head temp:) and the print bed (= bed temp:) of four different
filaments are stored in the SIMPLEX 3D printer.
• TEMP1: SIMPLEX study model / working model / multi-use
• TEMP2: SIMPLEX aligner model
• USER1: Freely configurable
• USER2: Freely configurable
Chap. 7.2. explains how you can store customer temperature values for the USER1 and USER2
filaments.

Using the filament spool icon , select the required filament.
Select the TEMP1 filament for the study model filament that is included with the
delivery�

Press the extruder icon to start heating�
♦ On the display, the current temperature and the target temperature change
from gray to white�
⇒ Press the lower left arrow until you are back in the main menu�
5.6.2 Drawing in / extruding the filament
⇒ Remove the printer cover. When doing so, pay attention to the
cable of the fan�
⇒ Pull the end of the filament through the safety hole of the
filament spool.

Cut off the end of the filament in such a way that the filament is
straight without any damage, bends, kinks, or melted parts (Fig. 22).
