EARLIER JOYSTICK CONTROL
A
B
A= Docking Mode
B= High Mode
C= Button Light
The Volvo joystick control makes low speed docking and
maneuvering much easier due to the ability to rotate the
boat and maneuver in any direction including forward,
reverse, sideways and diagonally. The control features easy
to use buttons along with lights and audio signals.
The joystick control should be used in an open area where there is
plenty of space for practicing until the skipper masters the control
functions and is ready to use in con
fi
ned spaces.
To activate the docking function do the following:
1. The engines must be running.
2. The remote control lever(s) must be in neutral.
3. The helm station docking button must be activated.
4. The joystick handle must be in the center position.

Using Joystick Control Docking Mode
1. Activate the docking mode as indicated by pressing the
(A) button on the joystick control (see illustration).
2. You will hear an audible signal indicating the docking
mode is activated and the docking lamp above the dock-
ing button will light (see illustration letter C).
3. At this point the vessel can be maneuvered by moving
the joystick fore and aft, sideways, or rotating the vessel
by twisting the joystick top. See the illustration on the fol-
lowing page.
Note: Once selected the vessel will move in that direc-
tion even when the joystick handle has been deselected or
put in the neutral position. To compensate for the vessel
forward surge, move the joystick handle in the opposite
direction. For example, after the vessel moves forward
move the joystick handle to reverse to halt the forward
progress. Select the neutral joystick position.
4. To leave the docking mode, press the joystick docking
button (A). An audible signal will sound twice indicating
the docking mode is deactivated, and the docking lamp-
will go out.
