Practical tip:
Generally one turn is sufficient to change the linkage length. Thus, carry out the tuning of the alignment
in a stepwise manner to slowly obtain the ideal setting.
b) Balancing the rotor blades
Smooth and virtually vibration-free running of mechanical
components will not be possible unless the main rotor
blades (1) have been balanced. To do so, you can use
commercially available rotor blade scales, propeller
balancers (2) or even a home-made jig of your own.
What is important here is that the rotor blades are precisely
aligned to each other along a straight line (3) and can
pivot in either direction with the very minimum frictional
resistance. Then stick small adhesive film strips around
the nose of the lighter rotor blade until the weight of the
two rotor blades is balanced.
The balancing of the tail rotor blade is carried out in the
same manner.
