matrix on each device. Make sure you provide this information to your installer.
Creating the Configuration File
The software help system provides the details on how to actually create the Mongoose configuration file.
Here we will merely provide a few design tips and point out some key things to remember when working
with configuration files.

Complete your design layouts before creating the Mongoose configuration file. In fact, creating
this file should be one of the last things you do. If, however, you make changes to your design after
creating the configuration file, it is very easy to change the file.

Provide meaningful names for your RADs and RAD channels. This makes it much easier for your
installer to troubleshoot problems. The software provides a helpful
Locate
feature for verifying
the location of the RAD you’re viewing, but meaningful names make the process that much easier.
Note that the software contains a useful naming panel, which serves as a central location for
naming all the RAD and CobraNet channels.

You can open only one configuration file at a time within a single instance of the software. If you
want to compare or work with two configuration files at once, just open two instances of the
software, one for each file you want to open.

To provide the configuration file to your installer, you can copy it to any removable media (CD,
flash drive, etc.) or send it via email.
Generating RAD Labels
Each RAD contains an area near the top in which you can insert a custom label. We recommend you
use these labels to identify the channel associated with the corresponding jack. The following graphic
illustrates the placement of the labels:
To eliminate confusion and also streamline audio routing and troubleshooting, the channel names on the
physical RADs should match the channel names in the Mongoose Tracker. To help ensure this consistency,
the Mongoose Tracker includes a label generation feature that produces a PDF of labels based on the
channel names you’ve entered in the software. We highly recommend this feature to create your labels.
