4. Maintenance
4.1 Introduction
This section of the operation manual explains briefly on how to perform a safe and efficient
preventive maintenance on the MFS. Avoiding these series of maintenance procedure can cause
serious damages to the MFS and prevent it from operating safely and efficiently.
4.2 Mechanical
4.2.1 Emergency Vents

Table 11 shows the Distribution of the Emergency Vents in the MFS. Please note that the vent
used in the MFS is flanged emergency vent.
4.2.1.1 Maintenance Procedure
•
An annual inspection check should be done to each vent.
•
If freezing conditions occurs, a check should be done after every operation
•
Check for proper operation, slide the cover back and forth to make sure it maneuvers
smoothly.
•
If the vent cover stick binds to any degree, the vent should be replaced
•
Check the vent including the seal area for dust, debris, snow, ice. Gently remove any form
of debris if found.
•
Check the valve and all its components for any signs of damage, corrosion, or excess wear.
•
If any damage is noticed that could disturb the process of operation of the vent, the vent
should be replaced.
4.2.2 Manhole
Manhole was required by UL standard in order for the operator to to access the tabk from the
inside. Manhole access is used to clean and access the tank and perform the required
maintenance procedure if needed.
